A trundle bed is a type of bed that includes two
beds, but allows for them to be stored in the same amount of space as a single bed.
This is made possible because the bed on the
bottom actually rolls right underneath the upper bed, usually making use of coasters, so that it
can be stored when not in use.
This is a concept that can save you a lot of
space, especially if you do not use both beds all of the time. These are very popular for guest
bedrooms, because they store two beds in a single space.
That way if you only have one guest over, you will not have need
to take up all the room of a second bed....you can just keep it in storage beneath the top bed.
On the other hand, if you have a couple of people over, you can
just slide the second bed out from under the first one at bedtime, and provide two very spacious and comfortable
sleeping surfaces. Then, when morning comes along, you could just slide the second bed back underneath, and you
would then have all of that extra space to utilize!
Trundle beds are not only popular in guest bedrooms, but also in
regular bedrooms, especially in kids rooms where two siblings might share a room. In this type of situation, a
trundle bed is perfect because it gives them room to move around during the day, but gives them two different beds
at night.
Having two beds set up all the time in a bedroom can be very time
consuming, which is why trundle beds are almost as popular as bunk beds for rooms shared by siblings. They can be
purchased at just about any furniture store, or on the internet.
